Debt Review Removal
01
Are you still under debt review?
Debt review was created to help consumers who were struggling to meet their monthly debt obligations.
For many people, it provides a structured path towards becoming financially stable again.
But what happens when your circumstances change?
You may have paid off your debts. Your financial position may have improved. Your debt counsellor may no longer be available. Or you may simply want to establish whether you are still required to remain under debt review.
If you believe you should no longer be under debt review, National Debt Helpline can assess your circumstances and explain the options available to you.
02
Can debt review be removed?
In certain circumstances, a consumer may be able to leave debt review and have the relevant debt review status removed from their credit profile.
However, debt review removal is not an automatic process and there is no legitimate one-size-fits-all solution.
The correct process depends on your individual circumstances, including the status of your debts, whether a debt rearrangement order was granted, whether your debts have been settled and what documentation is available.
That is why the first step should always be a proper assessment.
03
How does debt review removal work?
Its very simple.
Step1: Fill on our Online Application.
Step 2: We will do the necessary assessments and provide you with feedback.
Based on the assessment, we will either accept or reject your application.
If you application is rejected, it means you do not qualify to be removed from debt review. Further information will be provided in the assessment outcome.
If your application is accepted, we will advise you accordingly and confirm the best removal solution applicable to you.
We will then send you a debicheck mandate to approve the applicable fees on your desired debit date.
Once the mandate has been approved, we will immediately start working on your file, to have you removed from debt review in line with the expected turnaround times communicated on the assessment outcome.
04
What if I have already paid my debts?
Paying your debts does not necessarily mean that your credit profile will automatically stop showing a debt review status.
If you have settled the debts included in your debt review but are still showing as being under debt review, it is important to establish what documentation is outstanding and whether you qualify for a clearance certificate.
Don't assume that you have to remain under debt review simply because the status is still showing on your credit profile.
Let us assess your circumstances.
05
What if my debt counsellor is no longer available?
We understand that some consumers find themselves in this position.
You may have completed your payments but be unable to contact your former debt counsellor. You may also be struggling to obtain documentation or have your debt review status updated.
Depending on your circumstances, there may still be options available to you.
The important thing is to establish exactly where you stand before taking your next step.
06
How long does debt review removal take?
There is no single timeframe that applies to every debt review removal matter.
The time required depends on the circumstances of the case and the process that needs to be followed.
Some matters may involve obtaining or processing documentation, while others may require a legal application before the relevant status can be removed.
Once your circumstances have been assessed, we can explain the applicable process and give you a better understanding of what to expect.
